Music & The Arts

Music and art are ways we engage the Spirit, and that the Spirit speaks to us!  This shows itself in various ways in our life as a congregation.

Music is integral to our worship.  Our capable accompanist, Fay Jackson, plays both our organ and piano.  On Sunday, we sing a mix of old and newer hymns and songs.   We have a small choir that sings seasonally.  We are also blessed by individuals who offer their ministry of music throughout the year on harmonica, euphonium, violin and guitar.

Choir members from Powassan join Chisholm, our partner congregation, to form a larger choir for special events and concerts.  What fun we have!

The Powassan Art Group make the lower level of our Church, one of their permanent exhibition spaces.  It is wonderful to see what the artists are working at season by season, as they change the display and, it is a joy to have their creativity surrounding us as we eat and meet in this space.

Our Bookshop, also in the lower level, features literature for all ages which is a form of “word art.”  (See the Bookshop tab for more information on the Bookshop)

People love to sing and to play instruments in our church sanctuary because of the fine acoustics.  It is a nice size for a small concert which appeals to many performers.  For those of us who are in attendance, it offers an intimate experience—again, where the Spirit truly has an opportunity to speak to our soul.  (See the FAQ section for information on how to book space for a concert)
